Samsung Smart LED TV Series Overview

By

When choosing a new TV it can be a confusing affair with so many brands, models and features to choose from. When faced with this choice any consumer is very likely to include a Samsung Smart LED TV in any equation as they are one of the premier brands in world of home entertainment with a trusted reputation. Even after you have decided on the Samsung brand then it is still a big task deciding upon the particular model that is right for you.

However with the rebranding of the Samsung range the latest models are now marketed under the phrase Smart TV. Smart TV refers to the ability to display active content from the internet and other media. So in many respects their range of TVs share a lot of common features and so you are left with deciding between the level of price, screen size and quality of images. This Samsung Smart LED TV review will help you differentiate and choose between the popular Samsung LED TV series or model ranges.

Samsung 6000 series Smart LED TV

The Samsung 6000 Smart LED TV range is the entry level point for 3D TV, of course as the name suggests the range also has Smart technology included as standard. The Samsung 6420 is the lowest priced model that is 3D capable, and is also the only model which comes with the option of a 40 inch display size. Don’t think that it is a compromise, it has many of the features which are seen in more expensive models, and it is also available with the larger screen sizes of 46 and 55 inches. Where the Samsung 6000 series differs to other higher priced models relates to the picture quality. The 3D capabilities of the 7000 and 8000 series are Full HD 1080p where as the 6000 does not and the refresh rates and contrast ratios are lower.

Samsung 7000 series Smart LED TV

As has already been touched on above, the Samsung 7000 Smart LED TV has all of the features of the 6000 but it includes better picture quality and is Full HD 1080p 3D capable. There is not a 40 inch size of display for this model, 46 inch and 65 inch LED displays is your choice here. The contrast ratios of the 7000 series go up to 25,000,000:1 whereas the 6000 goes up to 10,000,000:1. The top of the range 7900 Smart LED TV is $600 more expensive than the 6900.

Samsung 8000 series Smart LED TV

This model is flag ship model of the range and as such has all the best features with a price tag of $3600 RRP to match (however this is only $200 more expensive than the 7900). It has the same specification in terms of contrast, Full HD 3D capabilities and screen sizes.

What sets the 8000 series apart from the 7000 is the quality of the images produced. It may have the same resolution and contrast ratios, but where it differs is the processing power of the imagery technology and the ability for micro dimming. Micro dimming is the ability to process the picture inch by inch and determine what should be dark and or light and then control the backlight accordingly using the local dimming feature. The term that Samsung has come up with to describe the combination of all these features is ‘Clear Motion Rate 960’. Simply put it enhances picture quality and reduces the negative effects from motion blurring and ghosting of images on the LED TV.
