The sucess of Samsung LED televisions
By tyrrell123
The emergence of the LED televisions in the high street stores has been heavily influenced by Samsung Electronics. Their development and marketing of this new technology has seen it rocket in popularity.
When you look deeper at the technology behind this breed of television you would be right in thinking that they are fundamentally not so different from the previous the LCD televisions that we have seen dominating the market over recent years.
LED televisions as they are broadly known are basically and LCD display with LEDs as the light source used to light the LCD panel. LEDs are now being used to light displays rather than the fluorescent lighting that has been used previously.
It is the inherent properties of the LED lighting coupled with other new features which has seen the enhancement in quality of these TVs over the previous breed of LCD TVs and consequently seen their popularity explode in the market place.
Samsungs LED TV series are heralded as producing some of the most vivid and dynamic picture qualities seen. Plus the use of LED lighting allows for the production of arguably some of the thinnest and most aesthetically stylish TVs sets produced. The realistic natural colours and virtually no edge blur that these displays produce is available in a more environmentally friendly unit. As with all new technologies this new range of sets comes at a slight premium, but with the Samsung LED TV series 8, 7 and 6 there is a full range of televisions to suit most budgets and requirements.
The LED light system in the Samsung LED TV series allows for a massive range of display contrast levels. These televisions produce some of the darkest blacks and brightest whites seen, also with the advanced colour processing technology and 120 Hz auto motion plus flicker-free capabilities built in to the Samsung ranges, very realistic life-like pictures are produce.
As has already been stated, due to the use of LEDs instead of fluorescent lighting which is a lot more bulky, the physical thickness of the televisions has been reduced with Samsung now producing some of the slimmest sets ever seen. This is no advertising hype either, the sets measure in at a minuscule 1.2inches thick and it must be said this has resulted in some of the most stunningly stylistic designs.
An advantage to the use of LEDs in these televisions has led to a welcome eco-friendly benefit. LEDs use less power than fluorescent lights do, and as an outcome are claimed to use up to 40% less energy than previous equivalent models. This may at face value seem like an advertising ploy devised to ease our conscience, when considering the usage that a television gets during its lifetime there are real money savings to be had as well as the environmental benefits.
Along with the improvements in picture quality and design, we are seeing a host of new internet related features beginning to feature in newly released sets. Samsung LED TVs version is called internet@TV and it allows the view to display their favourite web content directly on the television.
